Hey there!  MultiPHP with older PHP versions is a feature of the CloudLinux operating system, so you'd need to be running that OS in order to get the older versions.  This would not be available if you are running AlamaLinux 9.

PHP 5 hasn't received security support since 2018.  CloudLinux offers hardened versions of these older pieces of software to help make them more secure, in addition to CageFS, which limits the resource usage of each domain running on the server.

While you could manually run PHP 5 outside of cPanel, we don't allow it for security reasons unless you are using CloudLinux.

Hi again, thank you for your clarification.

I wanted to know what would be best in your opinion.

I need to setup a server which need both php 8.x (for wordpress sites) and 5.6.x (for legacy php sites).

I will ditch alma or any other OS altogether. As you mentioned.

So in effect I am going with --> CloudLinux + cPanel (+ litespeed if server cant handle the load)

does that sound ok to you? considering PHP requirements

Thank you for guiding me once again. :)

That's exactly what I would do - CloudLinux + cPanel
