cPHulk Brute Force Protection for blacklisting States needs added.
AnsweredAt some point we will need to update cPHulk to include regional or blocking of certain states due to some state laws. Example Transgender related content being blocked online via Michigan. Attached is the PDF Bill from Michigan last week that is making big possible changes to the way users data are handled with in the State of Michigan. Its HB 4938 its not law yet but other states may have similar laws coming soon. As IT directors its easier to just block these states then to comply with some of these requests depending the services being provided.
Just trying to stay compliant with the laws.

Hey there! This seems more like a feature request than a Forums post - would you like me to submit that for you over at features.cpanel.net?
As always, please remember that we can't have legal discussions on the Forum. If you have specific questions you can message legal@webpros.com to get in touch with that team.

Yeah I understand this.. However this feature needs to be added as laws eventually change. You can post it for me if you like. We are just preparing here for the future changes coming down the line.

I've submitted that through our site and I'll bring it up with the team Friday. It's more likely that this would get included as part of https://features.cpanel.net/c/202-firewall-configuration-tool than through cPHulk, but I'll let you know what we discuss!

Awesome thank you so much!!! Again just trying to look out for the future as things are getting crazy as it comes to proposed laws and rules.

Hey there! I finally heard back from the legal team about this issue and the let me know this isn't something that cPanel itself is required to comply with. If we start customizing software for specific state-level laws, that would quickly lead to a "slippery slope" situation where we need to make custom tweaks for all areas.
If you have any questions about this please contact legal@webpros.com and they'll be able to help.
