Mail Archive behaviour totally changed and broken after Ver 132 - Without any documentation
AnsweredDear All
I manage a couple of Dedicated Servers running WHM-Cpanel.
Till before Ver 132, the Mail Archive used to archive all incoming and outgoing mails for the entire domain in date wise folders.
One could download incoming and outgoing mail archives for entire domain in Maildir format or access them through Webmail.
This system of Mail Archive is totally changed and broken.
The Download mail Archive tar.zip files will have empty date wise folders after update to ver 132.
The IMAP syncs only incoming Mail and that too User Wise Folders and not date wise folders for the entire domain, like it used to be.
I am surprised there is no official Cpanel Documentation about this major change and there is no discussion too about it.
We used to sync Date-wise folders of the mail for entire domains through IMAP or download through Mail Archive downloads for the entire domain in Cpanel and move them to local backup storage till now. Now all that is broken.
We supported our clients in Archiving their emails for many many years and now all that is broken.
Anybody has any idea about this.

I’m experiencing similar archiving issue on all our servers.
When accessing via webmail, we can no longer see the.incoming.{date} or .outgoing.{date}folders. After some investigation, it appears that Roundcube is now listing data from/home/user/mailinstead of/home/user/mail/archive/domainas it did previously.Since this issue has not yet been resolved, I will open a support case to have it addressed.

I think this is a complete system change for Archives in Cpanel.
If you download the archive from Cpanel - Mail - Archives
This also does not contain any date wise email folders for archive email after the update to version 132.
So it seems the mails are not being archived in date wise folders for incoming and outgoing mail for the entire domain any longer.
Instead only the incoming mails are archived under user level folders, same reflects in Webmail for _archive in Roundcube.
I don't know if this is reversible at all.0 -
Amit,
Take a look in this article, I think it refers to our problem.
https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/articles/36998889106583-Archived-emails-are-unable-to-be-viewed-within-Roundcube-after-update-to-cPanel-1320 -
The post that Jean Roberto linked is the current issue you're experiencing. We actually have a fix for this ready to go which should be included in the next release, either this week or next week!

The issue appears to be resolved after the recent cPanel 132.0.17 rollout. My WHM had Ver 132.0.19 today when I tested it.

Mail Archives are once again stored in date-wise folders for the entire domain, as they were prior to cPanel 132.
-
The archives can be downloaded from cPanel and contain the expected Maildir structure.
-
Messages are now present under the
new/folder (Maildir-correct). They still do not have the .eml extension, but after renaming the files to.eml, they can be successfully restored into Thunderbird using ImportExportTools NG. -
This restores our pre-132 workflow for domain-level, date-wise mail archiving and external restores.
Thanks to cPanel (cPRex) for confirming the regression and rolling out the fix.
I’m marking this thread as resolved.
