Hey there!  While this isn't directly related to any issue with the ModSecurity interface, anything that uses the /var/log/maillog path will have an issue until CPANEL-51788 is resolved.  I do see that there is a proposed fix, so hopefully that is released soon.

I've linked this thread to the internal case so I'll be sure to post an update once I hear one.

Hey Rex, i honestly think this issue reflecting on modsecurity gui too as its looping on [1340715] [2026-03-04 15:38:24 +0200] [Cpanel::TailWatch] [INFO] /var/log/maillog/maillog has gone away.

none stop every 1 sec, and when tailwatchd restart it fetch the updated gui from modsecruity audit log up until the time of the start and then start looping again [1340715] [2026-03-04 15:38:24 +0200] [Cpanel::TailWatch] [INFO] /var/log/maillog/maillog has gone away. every 1 sec, i guess it interfece with also not updating modsecurity gui.

i hope the fix release in a day or two like an hotfix for this issue.

I also hope this is a quick fix, which I think it will be!

Update - it looks like the root cause of this issue was actually the kernel version and that 5.14.0-503.40.1.el9_5.x86_64 had a broken implementation of the "inotify" tools.  Anything using the inotify system was affected.

After several servers were updated to the 5.14.0-611.35.1.el9_7.x86_64 kernel this issue is no longer present.

If you have a kernel update available on your system I would definitely recommend running it at this time and see if that takes care of the issue.

Update - the repeated logs issue will be resolved in all versions of 136 once that is released!
