Hey there - I know you're a regular here so I appreciate the feedback.  I don't have much to offer except that I can confirm I'm collecting all of the feedback we're receiving about the current survey and will make sure the product team sees it.

Yeah its more of cpanel overstepping their access to hosting company customers.

I find frustrating that cpanel makes offers of competing services to my customers on my server.

I find frustrating that cpanel probes my customers for information.

I find frustrating that cpanel acts like this okay and acceptable when I open tickets on the these topics.

I find frustrating that cpanel does consider my customers as my customers. ITS A PAID PRODUCT NOT FREE. Why should I have to complete with a company I pay for licensing????

It really just means at some point I and many others will get fed up enough to cancel service and use a competing product as inconvenient as they may be.

It is like cpanel is taunting paying customers to try and move. Like there are no choices available.

The constant rate increases don't help. I now pay more for licensing my servers than for the servers in a datacenter.

Your product team needs to be fired and replaced with people who aren't trying to alienate long time customers.

The reply I received from Cpanel after over a week.

I understand you want more control over how we communicate with your customers. I'll share this feedback.

They’re literally popping this stuff up to our clients inside cPanel like we’re running some beta SaaS product. No warning, no proper opt-in, and it makes it look like we’re the ones pushing surveys on users.

Whole point of cPanel for most of us is white-label hosting. Now suddenly clients are getting random feedback prompts mid-task? Looks unprofessional as hell.

    Reply from cPanel:

The in-product survey can be disabled by adding the following to /var/cpanel/panel.ini:

    [global]
    in-product-survey.enabled = false

    It looks it works.

    Hello,

My servers are running whm v134.0.17

I have not  /var/cpanel/panel.ini in my  /var/cpanel/ folder.

I had to create the file and add the directive.

I'd also add that to help with client facing popups to suppress the "Consent and Privacy" by disabling server Interface Analytics:

    From WHM as root:

    1. Go to:
WHM → Server Configuration → Configure cPanel Analytics.

    2. Disable or uncheck Interface Analytics.

    3. Save changes.

Adding this to the list crap that needs disabling user facing cPanel interface.

    Turn off the announcement banner

cPanel has an option specifically for the promotional / feature announcement banner in the cPanel UI.

    1. Log into WHM as root.

    2. Go to:
Home → Server Configuration → Tweak Settings.

    3. Click the Display tab.

    4. Set “Display announcement banner.” to Off.

    5. Save.

This removes the built‑in announcement banner that cPanel uses to advertise new or promoted features.

    Hi,

My servers are running whm v134.0.17

I have not  /var/cpanel/panel.ini in my  /var/cpanel/ folder.

Same version, I created that file too and looks it works - tried to delete file and survey was back - created file and survey not display in any cPanel.

I have a ticket open on this issue #95973727.

I asked why no one on the ticket offered the above fix my issue. Here is there reply:

Thank you for your feedback. You contacted cPanel Customer Service who does not handle Technical Issues. At the time that the original reply was sent there was not a way to disable the survey that we were aware of which is why it was not presented to you.

I will be sure and pass your recent feedback along.

    Michelle

So she accepts no responsibility to the customer to help address the issue that is being stated in the ticket. WTH!

    Why?????????

JIKOmetrix - Unfortunately I think that's the best reply you're going to get :(

Ultimately, the survey isn't managed by the Customer Service team or Technical Support, so the best thing we can do is send that feedback over to the Product Management team.

I had to waste time this morning to fix the surveys that were rolled out on one server to all our customers, which is absolutely uncalled for. This is just another disappointing and overreaching step, trying to leech off our customers.

We are paying for this product, so there is no reason whatsoever for contacting in any way or form our customers.

If your teams do not change this obtrusive behaviour, you're basically forcing your customers to evaluate alternatives.

You should invest resources into making the product better, by eg. streamlining the interface, or making it manageable by ansible.
