PostgreSQL Version
AnsweredGood morning everyone,
Is it possible that there is currently no way to have a supported version of PostgreSQL (18 / 17 / 16 / 15 / 14) with cPanel?
Thank you in advance and best regards,
Ale

Hey there! That is currently correct - none of those versions are supported at this time as we use what is provided by the operating system.
Is there a specific function you'd like to take advantage of in the newer versions that isn't available to you?

Hi, thanks for your reply. There’s no specific feature I’m looking for; I’d just like to be able to use the latest version of Django, which still supports (for a little while longer) PostgreSQL at least version 14: https://code.djangoproject.com/wiki/SupportedDatabaseVersions.
So, is there any chance at all (even in the near future) of having a more up-to-date PostgreSQL version? Otherwise, unfortunately, I’ll have to switch control panels.
Thanks and best regards.Ale0 -
I tested an AlmaLinux 10 machine just now and confirmed that installed PostGreSQL 16 when running /scripts/installpostgres
Installed:
postgresql-private-devel-16.13-1.el10_1.x86_64
postgresql-server-16.13-1.el10_1.x86_64which is the latest version provided by AlmaLinux. At this time, we don't plan to create and maintain our own distribution of PostGreSQL as we use what is available from the operating system.
Would version 16 be enough for your use?

Hi, thanks a lot for testing this: PostgreSQL version 16 would be perfect for what I need.
Thanks again and have a great day.
