Saving files in the file editor takes 10 seconds

I’m experiencing slow save performance server-wide. All is still snappy and pages render very quickly within cPanel/WHM, and server load is minimal, nowhere near exhaustion.

Since the last security update, even saving a basic one-line file takes around 10 seconds.

What could be causing this behaviour?
