Is it supported login into administration URL for WHM port 2087 only using SSH Key?

  • Hi,

WHM does not natively support SSH key-based authentication for the web interface on port 2087 — that port uses standard username/password login, which is separate from SSH key authentication.

That said, there are a few ways to harden access to WHM:

    - **Host Access Control** — This interface in WHM allows you to setup rules to allow or reject logins to various services (including WHM/cPanel) based on the IP address of the visitor. For reference:

    - **Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)** — WHM supports 2FA, which adds a second layer beyond just a password. This can be enabled under WHM > Security Center > Two-Factor Authentication. You can read more about 2FA below:

    - **cPHulk** — WHM's built-in brute force protection can block repeated failed login attempts on port 2087. For reference:

If your goal is to require something like an SSH passphrase before WHM is even reachable, one approach some admins use is placing WHM behind a VPN or SSH tunnel, so port 2087 is not publicly exposed at all.

Hope that helps clarify the options — let us know if you have further questions!

But those 2FA and cphulk are useless feature because million of domains and servers got hacked due to cpanel and nothing protects them.
