Aha, I have fixed it! Some numpty has changed a setting on our firewall and not told anyone! Sorry to have used up your time on this. I will now go numpty hunting!!!!

All I get in WinSCP is a popup box that says "The server rejected SFTP connection, but it listens for FTP connections. Did you want to use FTP protocol instead of SFTP? Prefer using encryption." ...
