Symptoms
After using live transfer to migrate accounts between servers, you may find that mail never arrives at the intended remote destination, and in the Exim Main log, you see the following messages:
CONFIG_TEXT: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS H=HOSTNAME [203.0.113.2]:port X=TLS1.2:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-
SHA384:256 CV=no F=<email1@domain.tld> rejected RCPT <email2@domain.tld>: Rejected relay
attempt: '203.0.113.2' From: ‘email1@domain.com' To: ‘email2@domain.com'
Description
After using Live Transfer, domains that were configured to deliver mail to a remote MX server will be proxied to the new destination server instead of continuing to deliver to the desired remote MX server.
We've opened an internal case for our development team to investigate this further. For reference, the case number is CPANEL-43004. Follow this article to receive an email notification when a solution is published in the product.
Workaround
Unsetting the mail proxy using the whmapi1 command below will stop this behavior after the live transfer is complete:
# whmapi1 unset_manual_mx_redirects domain='example.com'
How do I add or remove a domain from /etc/manualmx?
