Symptoms

You receive an email from "Security Advisor" containing information similar to the following.

Detected 1 service that is running outdated executables: httpd.service You must take one of the following actions to ensure the system is up-to-date:

  • Restart the listed service using "systemctl restart httpd.service"; then click "Scan Again" to check non-service processes.
  • Reboot the server.

 

Cause

When "Security Advisor" runs, it checks for services running outdated executables. When such services are found, "Security Advisor" sends an email notifying the system administrator that services need to be restarted.

 

Resolution

Restart the services reported. If the service cannot be restarted, the server should be rebooted to ensure the services are restarted.
