Shell access is not enabled on your account

Symptoms

You may receive the error message Shell access is not enabled on your account when attempting to connect to your cPanel account over SSH. 

Cause

Shell access is not enabled for the user's account.

Resolution

1. Log in as the root user to WHM.
2. Navigate to Home / Account Functions / Manage Shell Access.
3. Find the user you want to update.
4. Select to enable Jailed Shell or Normal Shell for the user.
5. The change is automatically saved and applied.
