Symptoms
You may receive the following error when running /usr/local/cpanel/bin/checkallsslcerts
:
The system failed to send an HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) “GET” request to“http://example.hostname.tld/.well-known/pki-validation/example.txt” because of an error: Could not connect to 'example.hostname.tld:80': Connection timed out. The domain “example.hostname.tld” resolved to an IP address “IP” that does not exist on this server.
Description
The script /usr/local/cpanel/bin/checkallsslcerts
is used to install the free cPanel-signed hostname SSL certificate. The Hostname must resolve to an IP address that is bound to the server to receive this certificate.
Workaround
To resolve this, you will need to ensure the Hostname resolves to an IP address that is bound to the server and then run /usr/local/cpanel/bin/checkallsslcerts
via SSH as the root user. If you do not manage DNS for the Hostname, you can change the Hostname to one that you can manage DNS for in WHM >> Change Hostname. You may find our documentation on Change Hostname here.
