How to add or remove SSH keys for the root user

SSH key authentication allows for the sharing of access without the compromise of sharing a password. Adding SSH keys to the root user from the WHM interface is easy, and removing them is even easier.

Procedure

Import a new SSH Key

1. Log into WHM
2. Navigate to "Manage root's SSH keys"
3. Click "Import Key"
4. Paste the Public Key in the last text field
5. The name field will be auto-filled
6. Leave the other two fields blank
7. Click "import"

Revoke access from a key

1. Log into WHM
2. Navigate to "Manage root's SSH keys"
3. In the row of the key you'd like to deactivate, click "Manage Authorization"
4. Click "Deauthorize"

Permanently delete a key from the server

1. Log into WHM
2. Navigate to "Manage root's SSH keys"
3. In the row of the key you'd like to deactivate, click "Delete"
4. Click "Yes"
