Question
How do you customize cPanel's Update Preferences from the command line?
Answer
The default update settings for a cPanel installation are usually controlled with the Update Preferences interface in WHM; however, there are situations where a greater level of control might be required. In such cases, editing the /etc/cpupdate.conf file provides the desired level of control.
- Access the server's command line as the
rootuser via SSH or Terminal in WHM. - Open the
/etc/cpupdate.conffile in your preferred text editor. -
Adjust the values as desired.
Warning: It is strongly recommended to avoid setting the
RPMUPandUPDATEoptions to eitherneverormanualvalues. - Save the changes and exit the text editor.
