How do I change the primary domain of an existing account?

Answer

Note: The domain you want as the new primary domain must not exist on the server.

Warning: Changing the primary domain of an account will also update any email, FTP, and Webdisk accounts, as well as Subdomains of the current primary domain to the new primary domain. Additionally, if you have an existing site or application that contains references to the current primary domain, these references must be updated manually to the new primary domain.

1. Log into WHM as the 'root' user.
2. Navigate to Home / Account Functions / Modify an Account.
3. Select the account to edit.
4. Click the Modify button.
5. Enter the new domain name in the Primary Domain textbox.
6. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
