WP Toolkit reports: "WP Toolkit failed to perform backend request. Response code: 502"

Symptoms

Accessing the WP Toolkit via cPanel or WHM will report the following error message:

WP Toolkit failed to perform backend request. Response code: 502
Please contact your service provider.

Make sure that 'sw-engine' and 'sw-cp-server' services are up and running.

Description 

There are 2 services that WP Toolkit requires in order to function properly. If either service is offline you may see the message above.

Workaround

Check the status of the services and attempt to start them up manually. 

Note: $SERVICE can be sw-engine or cw-cp-server

Systemd:

systemctl status $SERVICE

systemctl start $SERVICE

CloudLinux 6:

service $SERVICE status

service $SERVICE start
