Security Advisor detected processes that are running outdated executables

Symptoms

Security Advisor notifications occur frequently during cPanel updates.

CONFIG_TEXT: Detected 4 processes that are running outdated executables: 1230540 1230901 1231293 1231304
 

Cause

The Security Advisor uses the DNF core plugin "needs-restarting" to detect if processes may need a restart. If the system clock skews after a reboot or starts reporting processes that were started before the reboot, it can cause a false match, indicating that processes need to be restarted. This issue has been reported to our developers in case ID CPANEL-52529. Follow this article for additional updates on the case status or resolution.

Resolution

Restart the affected service or reboot the server. The notification can also be ignored if the service has already been restarted.
