[CPANEL-23579] Null MX for domain without email
Is there any way to add a No Service MX RR ("Null MX") as defined in RFC7505 for domains that are not using email.
It does not work in WHM - Edit DNS Zone when tested today on V78.0.18
The syntax should be priority 0 and target set to a . (single dot)
Will support for this be added? I know cloudflare and others are supporting this since about a year back.

Hello @kjg While I cannot tell you a specific time frame this will be resolved we do currently have an open case on this issue. CPANEL-23579 - cPanel does not support RFC7505 - null MX Records. I can update here when the case is addressed if you'd like as well. Thanks! 0 -
This case still on going ? 0 -
@Lee Roberts - this case has been closed as there wasn't enough demand for this to happen. Were you still looking for something like this? If so, I'd be happy to create a new case with our development team so they can explore this again. 0 -

I'm not sure, I mean it would be nice to be able use this but I don't think its a big deal... On a side note @cPRex is there a way for me to send you a PM/Inbox ? Thanks, Lee0 -
There is, but you have to have five posts on the Forums before all features open up to you. Once you get there, you can send messages to other members. 0 -
ok i wonder if i'm now on post 5 yet? 0 -
Maybe not 2 more to go , I will be in touch... 0 -

How is that decided? I saw the reply from @cPanelLauren and my understanding was that it was already being implemented. Had I known you were still gathering feedback for this before making a decision, I would definitely have voiced my opinion :-D0 -
I mean on reflection, shouldn't everything "RFC" be supported for the most compatible compliance etc... 0 -
@DennisMidjord - the original case was closed over two years ago, so I'm unlikely to find much as to the "why" except for "lack of interest" Let me reach out to the team and see if this is something we'd consider adding now. 0 -
@cPRex I was only referring to the fact that Lauren said it was already being worked on. In my case, that would be enough for me to not make a comment on it - unless I really see something wrong with adding that functionality. In this case, I thought it would be a great addition but I didn't have anything relevant to contribute to the case other than "That would be great", and I didn't feel the need to comment that since it was already implied that an implementation was being worked on ;-) Generally, I think Lee is correct - RFCs should be implemented to cPanel where possible. Or at least an option to use them. 0 -
Why not just edit the [font="courier new">/var/named/domain.tld.db file directly and modify the MX record to null, update the serial number, and reload the DNS Zone? There's probably a ton of things that cPanel doesn't support in a GUI that can still be done through the command line or manually. Not everything has to be done through a cPanel GUI. I'm really not in favor of cPanel spending time adding features that are going to be used by one or two individuals in the hosting world. Judging from what I've seen and what this thread seems to indicate, there's just not a huge amount of interest in this feature. But while cPanel may not want to spend time developing a GUI to accomplish this, that doesn't mean that it can't be done manually through the command line. 0 -
@sparek-3 that won't solve much for our users. Our users would need to contact us to have it fixed. If I remember correctly, they won't be able to make any changes to the zones afterwards because cPanel doesn't support the syntax. cPanel already has a UI for it. It's the Zone Editor. All that's needed is a change of what the interface accepts as a valid input. 0 -
Well, if you're wanting your end-users (cPanel users) to make this change, then I guess you'll have to have GUI item for this. But, how many users are requesting this? Why can't they just submit a support ticket to you, to have you make the changes on their behalf? As far as manually modifying the DNS zone files... I've been doing that for years. I'm actually not sure if I've ever used cPanel's Zone Editor or WHM Zone Editor to make DNS changes. I pretty much work exclusively from the command-line. I understand that the command-line isn't for everybody, but there's also a whole world of administrative actions that can be performed outside of the cPanel/WHM GUI. 0 -
But, how many users are requesting this?
We've had 3 the past couple of months. That's more than the amount of PostgreSQL databases that we currently have running (and we've been offering PostgreSQL for years). We have had exactly 0 end-users using Ruby, despite that we've offered this basically since cPanel implemented it. cPanel also have an IP-blocker. I don't really know anyone that uses it since most people use a plugin (or rely on their webhost to block the IPs). We still offer the opportunity to use these features to our end-users. I have no idea how many users are going to use the feature, but I have an idea that it's going to be more than one based on the support tickets we've seen. And for reference, I don't mind using a CLI - I've been doing that for a long time. For my needs, I don't need a GUI - but our entire business model is based on providing an easy way for our clients to manage their websites, email etc.0 -
@DennisMidjord - can you make a new feature request for this so I can get that over to the team? 0 -
I just approved it and I'll add it to this week's discussion list. 0
