Block .gz and .tar.gz Attachments?
Hi,
I want to stop any email with contents .gz file in attachments on whole server. I have created a rule in Global spam filters also. But it is not stopping the .gz attached files.
Can you please someone suggest me on that.

As a root admin, you should have access to the exim filter '/etc/cpanel_exim_system_filter' You can add additional file extensions in there. However, i'm of the understanding that the exim_system_filter will resort to default with an exim update. So ideally, what you should do is create and modify a copy of it, then modify your exim config to use the copy instead. It sounds complicated, but not overly difficult. I did something similar a while back. Here's a link to a recent conversaion, wher we covered the same. 0 -

Exim filters dangerous attachments using the exim system filter as noted by @keat63 and a list of these is stored in /etc/antivirus.exim0 -
Thanks @keat63, My issue has resolved. 0 -

@Le Ti - you wouldn't be able to perform the work in this thread without root access to the system. I see your forums profile indicates "website owner" so you would need to speak with your hosting provider to see if they'd be willing to help you make these changes. If you are on a shared hosting server, they likely will not want to adjust those settings. 0
