Cpanel price increase 2021
-
Ah, CPanel, Plesk and et all. :rolleyes:Hang your heads in shame, CEOs and Directors. You do know that following the Great Recession, since the age of austerity etc, that hardly anyone has any income anymore thanks to COVID? In 9 months the world has changed. Do the right thing, go the opposite route, reduce the cost, it will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and clients of your competitors will flock to you. Everyday I believe more and more that the sooner humanity moves away from money, corporate greed, appeasing shareholders and we ditch the same old routine, the better for everyone and everything. 0 -
We didn't expect a second price rise this early. 0 -
Last year's price increase was hard, but understandable. It was understandable, that after so many years, cPanel would raise the price. This year's increase is unfair and shows a bit of affection for their customers. It is a real stab, moreover, in the times in which we are, that comes a very big crisis. cPanel, I am very disappointed. I'm not just a customer with a license, I'm a cPanel partner. 0 -

No it wasn't, it was not a normal price increase.0 -
I pay more for the licence than i do the server 0 -
Seems like it's time to move on and come back once cPanel adds all necessary features and removes all bugs...that will justify the price tag. 0 -
The time has come to change the control panel, with cpanel we currently spend over " 20,000 per year, we will probably use Plesk and pay a tenth of what cpanel asks for. I think cPanel is the most unfair company in the world, you can't bring the hosting world to its knees like this, shame. Are you just greedy for money, your services don't justify your price, what do you sell gold or software? Goodbye cpanel forever, you have exaggerated. I hope everyone changes control panel to let you know how wrong you are. 0 -
its really disgusting to be honest. not sure why there havent been anyone mentioning interworx (not sure if allowed to post links, but just google it) they look really good compared to directadmin (used it before, it was as others said like a bad beta version) it is also improving and was bought by liquidweb and they are working on improving it for their clients as well. i am not ready myself to pull the trigger on moving, but this would be the one i will jump too when i am ready. 0 -

Plesk is owned by the same company, you will end up with the same problem again soon. Don't do it. DirectAdmin is definitely a better and safer choice.0 -
Hi Shazan, it is true we have delved into this and are already testing direct admin on a test server. :) 0 -
This is unacceptable! I had to move to a lawer reseller hosting account after the first rise, and now the datacenter call me and tell me that there will be another price rise!! cpanel customers can make the difference by looking for alternatives, and I guess the majority of you already googled to look for it for the major part of my clients a basic directadmin is enough since they never log in their cpanel account, I was already using it in the past it was crapier but doing the job, now I arrived at some ideas we are studying 1) using a cpanel alternative: there is plenty of cpanel alternatives up there, some are free like: - centos webpanel - aapanel - ispconfig - froxlor and some good paid alternatives like: - directadmin - interworks 2) Make 2 different offers with different prices for same disk space one with cpanel and the other with one of the alternatives 3) Filter clients and keep the big ones on cpanel and move the others to the alternatives what do you think guys? did you try one of the free alternatives I mentioned above? 0 -
Hi All. I'm one of the Server Administrators from Southeast Asia. As I agree with most of the posts in this forum, I have to say cPanel is just another business man. They are leading Control Panel and they have rights to do so. For those who are depending on cPanel, like my clients, it's either they charge more from their clients or look for alternative. When cPanel increased price and changed license types last year, almost all of my clients were not happy but they agreed to continue using cPanel with our recommendation. But this year wasn't so lucky. They are not happy with new price increase again this year and asked me to install DirectAdmins on their servers. I have installed DirectAdmin trials on their servers and they are testing it so far and got positive feedback. If I'm not wrong, 80% of my clients will move to alternative control panels. Although it is just a small increase this year, it is a big jump compare to 2 years ago. For small to medium providers like my clients, it is kinda a big deal for them as every penny counts. All in all, cPanel team did the great jobs over the years. But it is up to users to decide to stay or leave. 0 -
Hi 10 years ago i had been starting with DirectAdmin, but i didnt like their interface to that time really much. So i switched after short time to Cpanle. Close to 9 years now i used on several server from me Cpanel with hundreds of accounts. Until last year their prices had been fair. But after that price move, it had been too much for me. To that time i installed DirectAdmin with their latest skins on a new test server to user them for my personal needs and had been happy with it. Switched then all my servers to DirectAdmin and i am more than happy with the decision. Especially when i read now that Cpanel raises the prices again. Everyone else who is thinking for a good alternative for cpanel, give DA a try. Its worth it and much cheaper!! Greets 0 -
I had tried DA when CP did this last year.. I was not a fan of the Admin side, but my clients had no issues on their side. I switched back because I liked what I was familiar with.. However, we are in the process of building and migrating as I type this and won't be switching back again. All I can assume is the greed at the top plans to grab as much cash as they can and sell off, claiming a loss on the books when things hit the fan, leaving a crippled brand and a lot of resentment. 0 -
We love cPanel and the cPanel staff are great but if the plan is to increase by 50% each year then we will probably be forced to look elsewhere. Our only viable alternative is currently missing a few features but it seems they will be adding them soon. Future doesn"t look good here. When a company is sold from investor to investor and each new investor increases the prices to try and sell for a huge profit, it"s the customers who end up paying the price. We need some reassurance that in 4 years time we will still be able to afford cPanel. Difficult to invest time in testing new features (like server profiles) without knowing if the price will double next year making cPanel not viable any more for the shared hosting market.
I've been using cPanel for over 15 years and know you can't keep increasing pricing by over xxx% for existing customers, not with Shared/Reseller hosting anyway unless the goal is for everyone to leave you. Little increases here and there due to suppliers increasing their costs, sure, but massive increases is not the norm. It wouldn't be so bad if cPanel provided a discount to existing customers who've helped improved cPanel over the years. Like 10% recurring discount for every [COLOR=rgb(0,0,0)]tutubox ios have been paying for the software for over 10 years and put up with [COLOR=rgb(0,0,0)]androidbuzz experience and have nearly every feature they want/need which was only possible due to the old customers of cPanel who helped improve the product. Nginx/CentOS 8 is not fully supported yet. I hope cPanel/VC know what they're doing long-term. ;)
i agreed to both. i love cpanel very very much. sometimes there are 2 sides with this. but just thinks from our side too0 -
I really don't understand this. I would understand if they hired much more developers and really improved and speed up development, after previous price increase, but they have just increased prices, got a lot of money and did nothing for us with that money. Everything is completely the same just cost 300-600% more. Same slow development as before. There are still issues and requested features that we are waiting for 5 or 10 years, still not implemented. Instead to invest our money from that huge price increase in some real development and requested features they have developed new, improved WP manager that we also have to pay more to get...??? Very weird. We will probably have to pay more per feature/icon in cPanel by the end of next year... :) This entire situation with Oakley Capital and cPanel is like a bad joke. Plesk is owned by the same company, you will end up with the same problem again soon. Don't do it. DirectAdmin is definitely a better and safer choice.
Yes, until same company buy DirectAdmin... :)0 -
As a cPanel Partner, I think cPanel should allow lower cost for JetBackup (they offer the same price at JetBackup website). They could also add WHMCS licenses, too. 0 -
@HostXNow_Chris - we do have WHMCS licenses available in our store: cPanel Store - Cart 0 -
Ah, I see what you mean now. It would be best to bring this up to your account manager directly to see if they are aware of any future plans with JetBackup pricing. At this time, I haven't heard anything about Acronis being added. 0 -
To get a discount at JetBackup, you have to have 500 plus licenses and a lot of smaller-medium providers will barely have 1-10 licenses nevermind 30, 50, 100 or 500 plus.
Hello Chris, I would just like to clarify that our Partner Program offers discounted licenses at a minimum of $350/month and covers your first 100 licenses. After reaching 60 licenses on our JetBackup Partner Program, you will begin to see the discounted prices. We would like to add that we enjoy our Technology Partnership with CPanel and are glad we can introduce new clients to the convenience of JetBackup!0 -
CPanel/WHM has a monopoly over the competition because there is no real competition. They shouldn't abuse their customer's goodwill and patience because they have such a monopoly, it's hugely unfair. It seems to me that there is a huge gap in the marketplace and somebody will surely step up. 0 -
No worry next year new increase it will come :) cPanel is abusing theri customers. Half of an income server with 1k accounts on it it gows to cPanel :) . Price Mo + Accounts + VAT :) at a webhosting price of 0.99$ from 1000$ 50% > cPanel + you need ClodLinux + Network, Electricity .... - 19% Income Tax we ramaing with 200$ :)))))) i work 1 day i make those money nop 1 mo stres . I read on some websites since last 3 mo there is a new big company who made an pannel like cpanel and was writed in july will be release. 0 -
Is cPanel going to offer CloudLinux OS+ to cPanel Partners? 0 -
@HostXNow_Chris - we're looking into that option :D 0 -
I don't believe they will, since CloudLinux doesn't even allow it's own Partners to resell it. Every server owner needs their own CLN account (particularly for Centralized Monitoring) so I'm not sure how licensing can work. Best case scenario I can see CLN resellers being able to create CLN end-user accounts and assign licenses there, then pay in bulk. Not sure how this could be done through Manage2 tbh. 0 -
Good bye cpanel. I was using cpanel since many years ago.... but now its time to leave cpanel due to its price, which is not worthy in any case to continue cpanel. Its better to go with DirectAdmin now. If cpanel had not increase second time price, then probably i was thinking to continue... but now there is no scope to continue after second increase of price. I think cpanel think that customer can not go elsewhere if they will increase price. Now i also dont suggest my customer to use any service of cpanel in any hosting elsewhere too. Because at any time cpanel can increase price. I think this year most of hosting service provider will be busy to shift from cpanel to another panel. I know its hard, but better to spend time once, before cpanel increase price again in 2022. Now no more trust on cpanel products. Good bye cpanel..... 0 -
@Bidi from which company you are talking? We switched our servers to directadmin several months ago and are quite happy with it. Nice interface, good prices, no increases. Greets 0 -
So much complaining about price increases, I don"t get it. Costs go up everywhere every year. If you can"t absorb it, pass it on to your customers, it"s not like they don"t know that things go up each year. Power, cell phone, fuel, food, why is it that people think if it"s on the internet it has to be different? The hosting industry is the only industry I can think of that has been busy destroying its own revenues and margins year after year because everyone insists on competing in price. Some costs just have to be passed on 0
