There's nothing wrong with cPanel pushing updates - that your server is dying is specific to your server most likely. So complaining that cPanel releases an update to customers makes no sense. You could enable manual updates on your server, so it doesn't auto-update at night, and then plan for updates once a month. Or you could wait, and let cPanel do the upgrade next time, so they may actually be able to catch the error when it's updating :) With that said, it's not an issue I've ever seen.

I don't think I've ever suffered an outage after an update in almost 8 years of ownership. I have a few outages, but never one caused by an update that I recall.. Id agree with Lucas, there's more to this than meets the eye.

We're always happy to check the cPanel software on our end to make sure that portion of the system doesn't have issues, so feel free to put in a ticket. If we don't see any problems with cPanel itself we might be able to detect problems with the operating system or try and point you in the right direction.

A new one now, didnt made any changes to the server, didnt disable the automatic updates cuz i forget and is the first time i get this.
The cPanel & WHM update process failed for the following reason:
Maintenance ended; however, it did not exit cleanly (256). The following events were logged: "scripts/rpmup". Review the update logs to determine why the update failed.

Try and run "yum update" and see if that provides some more helpful errors.

Just for the record, post made in Oct 6, 2020 on 15th Oct 2020 i disabled automatic updates, now is 19 January 2022, never had any problems since i disabled automatic update, same server no changes made. I was updating server only manualy and only when i had to not when he whated. For me this was proof.

It was more that time to check what was wrong, because is not cPanel, is your server... Disable updates is not the solution. If you had the server almost 2 years without updates, never checked what caused the issue and never even look at the logs... then the fault is on you really.
