New backup deleted after finish.
Hi
I'm trying to understand how the new cPanel backup system works.
I migrated from legacy to the new system on november 10th.
After finishing the backup on November 10th, I found a file called backup_incomplete within 2020-11-10
I removed this file, the backup_incomplete file
On November 11th after finishing the backup, the 2020-11-11 folder was removed and only the 2020-11-10 folder was left
Due to removing this file (backup_incomplete) the new backup, from November 11th was removed, canceled?
I'm confused.
It is marked
"Strictly enforce retention, regardless of backup success."
If I create this file backup_incomplete, the backup of the 12th (will the new backup not be removed?
How important is this file? backup_incomplete
Thank you
Marcelo

The folder backup_incomplete created whenever there is some problem with the backup process, it was not able to take complete backup successfully. It means there was some error while backup and only partial backup was possible. You should refer to the latest log file located at /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup
to find out what went wrong. Removing the backup_incomplete folder does not affect the new backups.0 -
Good Morning the backup was performed 100% 1) It is a file called backup_incomplete and not a folder. It has a date (backup start date) 2) After recreating the backup_incomplete file, the backup was successfully completed. I share my experience for those who have the same problem Thanks Marcelo 0 -
While the backup process may have completed, there were likely errors in the log, which caused the "backup_incomplete" file to get generated. Checking the logs as @kodeslogic suggests is the only way to be sure of what happened. If the log ends with something like "Partial Failure" you would need to look through the log for error messages or other problems that kept the backup from working. 0
