Not really cpanel related, strange issue with outlook and thunderbird
I've got a strange error with Thunderbird and Outlook 2003, that i'm struggling to find an answer to.
I can't imagine that it's Cpanel related, but maybe someone on here might have a clue ??
If I forward an email on Thunderbird to another Thunderbird and also to an Outlook 2003, the body content is empty on the Outlook client.
Using CSF mailscanner, I can see that the body content is there, and if i open the same email on the second TB client, the body content is intact.
But on the Outlook client, all I get is
-------- Forwarded Message --------
and nothing below this.
Any ideas ???

Outlook 2003, huh? Maybe that is the issue right there? Is the body of the message using any type of https links or is it just plain text? I'd also see if you can replicate with a newer version of Outlook just to see if that's the issue, but if it's working in webmail and Thunderbird I can't think of anything cPanel-related that would cause that type of behavior. 0 -
I apprecaite that Outlook 2003 is ancient, but we still have a license, it works (or so I thought), and I don't have access to any outlook younger. Like I say, I have CSF mailscanner, I can open and interrogate the email from the web server and the mail content is fully intact. In fact, forwarding the email using 2 x CC's (one to a TB users, one to an Outlook user), the TB user see's the content, the Outlook user doesn't. It's the same email CC'd to two users. I'm 99.9999% certain that it's not Cpanel related, and has something to do with the way TB and Outlook differentiate code. Both users are on the same domain, same email server. And whilst I've not looked at webmail, based on the above, the content has to be there, why wouldn't it be. The email does have a HTTPs link to a signature and company logo. I'm just stumped, I can't find any settings within Outlook that will reveal the missing content. 0 -
My https guess was that maybe there is an issue with older SSL connections, like we sometimes see on CentOS 5 machines trying to make connections using older openssl software that just doesn't work anymore. The only other thing I can think of would be customizations to Outlook. Does this happen with all of your Outlook 2003 instances? 0 -
Having cheated the system a little, I've been using our corporate licence on my home PC. Well I use my home Pc for work (like now for instance), so why shouldn't I ??? Anyhow today I sent the same email to my work PC (TB) and my home email (outlook), and it's the same scenario. My personal domain is also on our corporate server. But I'm ruling out Cpanel. Maybe the answer is just to put all my users on Thunderbird, its open source, and Outlook 2003 is an old man now. I do have a trusted contact on Outlook 2013, maybe I'll send a copy to him and see what the outcome is. 0
