i uploaded some images, 404 error

I uploaded some images in a file under public_html, but when I type the urls' of images, they are not shown and I get a 404 error page. What am I doing wrong?

  Hey there! If you are logged into cPanel and look under the Metrics section, you'll see the Errors icon. The most recent errors will be at the top of the page, and that may help you identify why the page isn't loading how you expect. Can you check that area to see if that gets you the details you need?

  Did you just upload lets say jpg files, along the lines public_html/picture.jpg ?? and now you are trying to navigate to www.yourdomain.com/picture.jpg There's no reason that this shouldn't work, if you did indeed upload them to the public_html folder. Maybe if you uploaded them as a different user to the folder, could cause an issue. Id start by double checking where I put them, is where i'm actually looking for them
