Email forwarders
Hello,
Forwarding emails, sent to my system account is not keeping a copy of the forwarded email in the inbox folder, instead diretcly jump over to the forwarded email recipient.
Am I doing something wrong?

Hey there! Forwarders in combination with the default account may not work well, as the default account really isn't designed to store messages. It might be best to open a ticket on this issue if you have root access to the server, since there are so many moving parts with this question, and we likely won't be able to replicate your exact configuration on a test server. 0 -
Thank you for your reply! I am using the cheap hosting with standard cPanel account from Protonhosting.com, so I am not aware what kind of access do I have to cPanel. However, I have added a new user email and the forwarding is working as expected. The default account is able to receive (and send) emails, but they are deleted from the inbox if a forwarer is configured for this account. 0 -
Thanks for that information. It sounds like you only have cPanel access, so if things are behaving in a way you don't expect you would need to reach out to the hosting provider or datacenter directly to have them check the system since they would have the access necessary to do that. 0 -
Thank you for this additional information! I am experienced Infrstructure project manager and Microsoft certified professional for Windows Servers. Actually I would like to build a startup in order to offer Azure cloud and domain hosting to my own customers, but I do not have any incomes and customer yet. Can you help me to find a company to support me with this my idea? 0 -
You will need to create the email address as an Email Account AND as an Email Forwarder. If the email address only exists as an Email Forwarder, then no local copy (on the server) is kept. If the email address only exists as an Email Account, then ONLY a local copy is kept - it is never forwarded. 0 -
I think he has the local address, but it's the default account, so things can get weird there. 0 -

No, that really isn't what we do here. I'm just here to help with cPanel issues.0 -
Okay, thank you both of you for the provided information! I am not aware how to create different emails - for Email account and Email Forwarder. There is only one option possible when creating email addresses. However, as told I created additional email account and it works find now - emails are stored in the inbox folder AND forwarded to the respective email address, configured by me in the forwarded option, so no further issue here. 0
