The mail server detected your message as spam
Hi, since I upgraded WHM from 64.0 to 66.0 I had a lot of small annoying things changed that caused new issues the server didn't have before... and now most of them are fixed, but I just noticed something that has been going on for a couple weeks now without me knowing. A customer contacted me saying their own customers are trying to email them and many of them receive a bounce and that has been happening for at least 2 weeks now but they thought at first it was a problem on the other end so they waited, but now they say many customers get the same message so they thought it was time to contact me... The bounce message from us is saying: "The mail server detected your message as spam and has prevented delivery."
So I went in the WHM > EXIM CONFIGURATION MANAGER > Search for "bounce spam score threshold". I wanted to set this to OFF, but that setting was already set to: No bouncing by spam score / default.
I then checked the "Apache SpamAssassin" reject spam score threshold" just to be sure and it's set to: 4. I remember not having any issues last year when it was set to 3 so 4 is kind of high actually, it really shouldn't block anything.
Then, I thought maybe they're sending emails that score really really high like 5.0 or something, so I went to WHM > MAIL DELIVERY REPORTS > Search for the sender email address... and to my surprise all the messages supposedly bounced were marked as "The mail server delivered this message successfully." with the green checkmark AND to make it even more confusing, the SPAM SCORE column doesn't contain any value. It's all blank for those emails. I've never seen that before. To make it clear, if I check normal emails right now, the spam score lists -1, 0 or 1 as per usual... so what's going on? What could cause this after 66.0 upgrade and how to fix it?
See the attached MAIL DELIVERY REPORTS screenshot for some of the bounced emails.

Moreover, I have executed this bash command: exigrep ***@***.com /var/log/exim_mainlog (where ***@***.com is the sender address which gets our bounces) I can see emails not listed in WHM > MAIL DELIVERY REPORTS and god, this is confusing, see this: +++ 1e4BVU-0005Rg-CQ has not completed +++ 2017-10-16 15:57:00 1e4BVU-0005Rg-CQ H=(Srvpra-****.****.com) [216.***.***.***]:34463 Warning: "SpamAssassin as **** detected message as NOT spam (4.1)" 2017-10-16 15:57:00 1e4BVU-0005Rg-CQ H=(Srvpra-****.****.com) [216.***.***.***]:34463 Warning: Message has been scanned: no virus or other harmful content was found 2017-10-16 15:57:00 1e4BVU-0005Rg-CQ H=(Srvpra-****.****.com) [216.***.***.***]:34463 X=TLSv1.2:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA384:256 CV=no F=<****@****.ca> rejected after DATA: "The mail server detected your message as spam and has prevented delivery (40)."
(the only thing I edited out are the stars **** to hide other server's IP, email address and hostname, all the rest is literally what is written from the bash command aforementioned) 1) ... Now, why is this log telling me that SpamAssassin running on the cPanel user detected this message as NOT spam and then immediately after that, it says that email got rejected after DATA because it detected it as spam. WHAT THE F?! 2) From that bash command, I now see the bounces and not what was on the screenshot from the OP, but man, this is even more confusing: Why is the WHM > MAIL DELIVERY REPORTS not showing all the emails including those bounces? I want to see when emails get bounced, I want to know why, get the spam score, the reason, something, now WHM is kind of hiding what's happening from me! How do I set WHM > MAIL DELIVERY REPORTS to list EVERYTHING (rejects, warnings, spam, etc...) like it was before the 66.0 upgrade? 3) When it reads Warning: "SpamAssassin as **** detected message as NOT spam (4.1)", is that "(4.1)" the spam score?0 -

Before upgrading to v66.0 under WHM > Mail Delivery Reports I could see every single email and it was relevant, I could see: spam, rejected email, bounced email, good email. Now I only see some of the email, while many of them are not listed at all. The problem is the BOUNCED email is not listed, so when clients contact me I do not see anything relevant in there anymore, most of the time there's no spam score also. This is weird. QUESTION #1 How to list EVERY SINGLE EMAIL (BOUNCED OR NOT) in WHM > Mail Delivery Reports like it used to be? QUESTION #2 How to list THE SPAM SCORE in WHM > Mail Delivery Reports like it used to be? 0 -

Please feel free to open a ticket directly to cPanel Technical Support right from your server if you wish. WebHost Manager "Support "Support Center If you'd rather check an email acount from your server, you might want to test it by going to this URLhttps://www.mail-tester.com/
Send an email to the email address shown there, wait a moment, and then click the "Check your score" button. It will show you any problems there might be and can be helpful in correcting them.0 -

Huh? Just so we're clear, MY SERVER is REJECTING AND BOUNCING OFF other servers good emails randomly without displaying anything in WHM > MAIL DELIVERY REPORTS. I don't understand how this is relevant? 0 -
Please open a ticket as mentioned, thanks. 0 -
About which of the 5 different problems? 0 -
Well, I'm assuming your issues are related. And going by your original post: Hi, since I upgraded WHM from 64.0 to 66.0 I had a lot of small annoying things changed that caused new issues the server didn't have before
It might be best to open a ticket so that cPanel Technical Support can come by and take a closer look at things for you. Those guys can fix anything. I'm sure they can help you get this sorted. Please feel free to link to this thread in your ticket as well. Good luck with this.0 -
Support ticket opened for the 5 different issues all in one: Your Support Request ID is: 8961291 Thanks for everything! 0 -
I'm having the same issues again after a migration. Originally, I paid cPanel to correct it, but your describing it exactly as I'm experiencing it. 0 -
@Rel82me - this post is almost four years old, so it might be better to start a new thread if you are experiencing issues. Originally, I paid cPanel to correct it,
cPanel doesn't offer any additional paid services. The only thing you can pay for at this point is priority ticket bumps and phone support, but there aren't additional services that can be purchased at this time.0
