Cpanel Installation Issue
Greetings,
I recently created a web server on which I wanted to install cPanel and WHM. I first tried installing cPanel on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, however when it came to the part of the installation involving Maria DB, I experienced the loop below so I cancelled the installation it because the loop took too long to exit:
info [cpanel_initial_install] Waiting for exclusive lock to run /usr/bin/apt-get
info [MariaDB] Waiting for exclusive lock to run /usr/bin/apt-get
I thought it was an issue with the Ubuntu Version so I tried installing it on a new Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server. Unfortunately, it reached the stage of MariaDB and the loop has reappeared.
Kindly assist on how i can resolve this.

Hey there! cPanel doesn't support Ubuntu 22 just yet, so you were right to change that version to 20.04.
Is Perl present on the machine?
https://docs.cpanel.net/installation-guide/system-requirements-ubuntu/#perl-installation
If not, that could lead to what you are seeing.

Greetings,
I'm currently installing cPanel on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and Perl is present on the machine, however, the loop below still persists
[MariaDB] Waiting for exclusive lock to run /usr/bin/apt-get
info [cpanel_initial_install] Waiting for exclusive lock to run /usr/bin/apt-get0 -
We'll likely need to see a ticket on this, as I'm not finding any specific details about the installation hanging at that point.

Turns out the installation process just took longer than expected. Thank you for you assistance

I'm glad that's all it was! Sometimes the package lock can take a bit of time to run, especially if the OS is new and still performing other package work in the background that may go unnoticed.

Alright, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the assistance
