Hey there!  It is my understanding that the remote restore option has only been available when using FTP as the remote destination setting.  SFTP wouldn't allow that option.  More details on how you can perform that restore can be found here:

Hey! It seems that WHM's remote restore option was previously available only when using FTP as the remote destination setting, not SFTP. This might explain why your successful backups aren't showing for restoration.

Thanks for the response. Yes, the remote restore only works with FTP and not SFTP. The documentation on this is all over the place and took a while to sort through. In order to restore from these remote backups, you have to jump through a ton of hoops (copying the backups to a specific directory) plus you have to enable local backups, chewing up disk space.

Pathetic and poor implementation by cPanel with convoluted documentation. For a licensed and paid product, I do expect better. There’s no good reason I can think of for not supporting remote restores using SFTP.
