Network Manager Error

We have been updating a few boxes to AlmaLinux9 from 8. SO far all good. No major issues on the leap upgrades. Pretty good and easy to do id say.

However after a few weeks 1 box seems to have high loads every few days and in a bid to investigate and find the route cause we have come accross: /usr/sbin/NetworkManager --no-daemon in the logs after which the high load and eventual shut down of the box happens.

Now my understanding of this is that NetworkManager needs to be disabled and instead network only needs to be used accoriding to: https://docs.cpanel.net/knowledge-base/general-server-administration/how-to-disable-network-manager/ and https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/articles/360057866674-What-are-the-networking-requirements-for-a-cPanel-installation

we had a similar issue a few years back and were able to get network up and running and NetworkManager disbled.

Followed the first links steps to diable network manager and it resulted in the box not being accesible (we used pam access) if we run the: 

systemctl enable network.service

command it results in: Unit network.service could not be found.

The only way the box comes alive is when NetworkManager is enabled. BUT everything I have read states it should be disabled on almalinux and cpanel installs????

Need to get clarity and a fix on this before we rule it out as the reason for the high loads and the box failing....

    Hey there!  In AlmaLinux 9 and higher it's normal to have NetworkManage running on the system.  We do mention that in our installation instructions here:

    https://docs.cpanel.net/installation-guide/system-requirements-almalinux/

    "On AlmaLinux 9 or higher systems, the installer does not disable Network Manager, and you do not need to disable it on these systems."

    but it is not mentioned on the two documents you linked.

    I've contacted our documentation team to get those updated so the information is standardized across our docs, but you should be able to leave NetworkManager running with no issues on AlmaLinux 9 or higher, so that shouldn't be the root cause of your problems.

    Yes, the docs i found didnt mention that hence the confusion. The older frums search was way better and easier to find things, this new one not so much hence why I coulsnt find that article you referenced.

    ll rule that out and check further to see why its falling over frequently. Spamd is the next one on the list!
