Unable to Add .bd Domain in cPanel – Detected as Top-Level Domain (Public Suffix) Error

We are facing an issue while trying to add a .bd domain in cPanel. When attempting to add the domain, cPanel throws the following error:

Error:
(XID d9epp2) The system cannot create the domain “shop.bd” because it is a top-level domain or other public suffix. You must use a different domain name.

🔍 Problem Description

• The domain we are trying to add is a valid ccTLD under Bangladesh (.bd)

• Example: shop.bd

• However, cPanel is treating .bd as a public suffix / top-level domain, and therefore blocking it from being added as an addon or main domain.

⚠️ Why This Is an Issue

In Bangladesh:

• .bd domains can be registered directly (e.g. company.bd, shop.bd)

• These are not subdomains, but valid second-level registrations

• Many local businesses actively use direct .bd domains

But cPanel relies on the Public Suffix List (PSL), where .bd appears to be classified in a way that prevents adding second-level .bd domains.

🛠️ What We Have Checked

• Domain is properly registered and active

• DNS is correctly pointed to the server

• Issue occurs on shared cPanel environment

• Same error appears consistently when adding any direct .bd domain

❓ Questions for cPanel Team

1. Is this a known limitation with cPanel’s Public Suffix List handling?

2. Is there any official workaround to allow direct .bd domains?

3. Can .bd be whitelisted or overridden at server level?

4. Will this be addressed in a future cPanel update?

🧩 Suggested Improvement

Since .bd allows second-level registrations, cPanel should support adding domains like:

• example.bd

• shop.bd

• company.bd

without flagging them as invalid public suffixes.
