Issues transferring an account from one whm to another
We setup a small WHM server on a proxmox host running the latest version of Alma Linux, with the latest version of WHM that is Nat'd behind a firewall, the server is accessible from the internet via public IP, has a valid 5 account license.
I'm trying to transfer an account over from our main server to our "dev" server, but it keeps failing with hostname verification failed and I am not sure why?
Everything is resolvable on the web so I'm not sure why hostname verification would fail and if doesn't matter if live transfer is on or off.

Hey there! When this has happened in the past it has been caused by testing entries in /etc/hosts or Host Access Control not allowing access:
Can you ensure that the server's can connect to each other over SSH outside of the Transfer Tool?

Yes the servers can connect to each other over SSH by name

I'm not sure what else the issue may be without doing some additional testing, so it might be best to create a ticket so this can be investigated directly on the machine.

Ok I will do that.

Could you post the number here so I can follow along?

This is the ticket information, sorry I forgot to post it.

Thanks for that - I'm following along with the ticket now!

It's seriously like no one is reading all the notes and giving me the run around, I do believe the transfer tool does not work with other accounts other than root anymore.

I have been following the ticket on my end and there has been a bit of back and forth. You can always request that it be escalated or even get a manager involved if you'd like to go that route.

I've reached out to the manager of Technical Support and we have a plan. You'll be hearing from us soon with specifics on how to move forward.

Thanks cPRex, I actually like working with Ryland, he seems to be on top of things but the other guy was really getting on my nerves.
But what I found interesting is they weren't able to replicate the issue on their test system? I believe he created an account the same way I did, so I am curious as to what is going on and it almost seems as if something happened with the whmapi1 createacct, where it is not creating the account properly?

I'm honestly not sure at this point - there's a lot of testing happening in that ticket so we'll update you there, and if I do get a concrete resolution I'll be sure to post that here for everyone.

Well that ended up being interesting! Our team filed case CPANEL-51803 with the developers to resolve the issues with the sudo command in the Transfer Tool initially failing to authenticate properly. I'm watching that case on my end now so if I hear an update I'll be sure to make a post!

Wiz - I'm not seeing that there's been a fix to this on just yet.
