How to set the mail subdomain to be the MX on account creation

Introduction

Some want the mail subdomain used for the domains MX record and can be set up using the DNS Zone Templates.

Procedure

Log into WHM and go to "Edit Zone Templates" and edit the standard templates with the following changes.

Change this line

%domain%. IN MX 0 %domain%.

to

%domain%. IN MX 0 mail.%domain%.

and this line

mail IN CNAME %maildomain%.

to

mail IN A %ip%

and then click Save.
