Symptoms
cPanel updates or adding a new ModSecurity vendor may fail with the following error:
# The system failed to update the vendor from the URL “https://domain.tld”: The vendor metadata does not contain an entry for your version of ModSecurity, “VERSION”.
Cause
The error indicates that the current ruleset for the ModSecurity vendor is outdated and cannot be supported on the current version of ModSecurity.
Resolution
The vendor for the specific ModSecurity ruleset will need to update its ruleset to work with the current ModSecurity version(s), or you may need to consider not using this vendor.
Note: Attempting to downgrade the ModSecurity module or forcibly installing incompatible rules can result in unexpected issues with Apache.
