Cron <root@host> /usr/sbin/csf -u
Oops: Unable to download: Can't connect to download.configserver.com:443 (Connection refused)
Answer
The company behind ConfigServer Firewall (CSF) has announced it will close permanently on August 31, 2025. All downloads previously provided by them are no longer available after August 31st, and all mirrors have been shutdown. Due to this, the Cron in place that attempts to update CSF will fail.
The following article provides further information regarding this topic:
Prepare Your cPanel Server for the ConfigServer Shutdown
If the Cron is still in place you can remove the following files to prevent further update attempts from happening:
rm -v /etc/cron.d/csf_updaterm -v /etc/cron.daily/csgetIn order to prevent the cronjobs from being recreated automatically, disable AUTO_UPDATES in ConfigServer Firewall (CSF) configuration. To disable AUTO_UPDATES, locate the following line and ensure the value is set to "0":
AUTO_UPDATES = "0"If AUTO_UPDATES was already set to 0, no further changes need to be made. If AUTO_UPDATES was changed to 0, restart ConfigServer Firewall (CSF) to apply the change by running the following command in SSH or "WHM / Terminal" as root:
csf -r
