Question
When you run the Security Advisor via the WHM Home / Security Center / Security Advisor, this alerts you that PHP 5.4, PHP 5.5, PHP 5.6, PHP 7.0, PHP 7.1, and PHP 7.2 have reached EOL.
What should you do?
Answer
You should install and use the PHP versions required. Avoid utilizing older versions of PHP such as PHP 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 7.0, 7.1 and 7.2 where you can. We do recommend removing them and using PHP 7.3, 7.4 or version 8. If you must use older versions, we recommend utilizing CloudLinux and their hardned PHP versions.
You can remove the versions that have reached end of life through the EasyApache interface via the WHM Home / Software / EasyApache 4.
- Log in to your WHM server as the
rootuser. - Navigate to Home / Software / EasyApache 4.
- Modify the existing profile by clicking the Blue Customize button next to the profile.
- Select the PHP version page by clicking the left side section.
- Select the slider next to the PHP version you want to remove. This will change from Unaffected to Uninstall.
- Click on Review in the left side section to review the changes.
- When you have reviewed those changes and are ready to proceed, click Provision
