How to set the default ethernet device

On a server with multiple network interfaces, how do I configure cPanel & WHM to use a specific default interface?

Answer

To add an IP address to a specific interface, you must set this in the Basic WebHost Manager® Setup.

1. Access your cPanel & WHM server as the root user.
2. Navigate to Home / Server Configuration / Basic WebHost Manager® Setup
3. Under Basic Config, the setting to adjust the default interface is titled The ethernet device onto which new IP addresses are added. Devices detected with at least one IP are listed in the drop-down, or you may specify another device.
4. Change this to the interface you want to use.
5. Save your changes.
