Introduction
This document describes how to install and use the Acronis Backup plugin for WHM and cPanel. The plugin integrates WHM and cPanel with Acronis Backup or Acronis Cyber Cloud. Before proceeding, ensure your system meets the following system requirements:
- PHP version 5.6 or later.
- Granular recovery of databases is supported only for local MySQL. Granular recovery of PostgreSQL databases is not supported.
- Besides the plugin, a backup agent must be installed on the same machine. If cPanel is running on a Virtuozzo container, the backup agent must be installed on the Virtuozzo host instead of the container.
Please note that we provide this guide as a courtesy and do not directly support the installation, configuration, or general use of the Acronis Backup Plugin. If you require assistance with installing or using the Acronis Backup software, you may wish to work with your System Administrator for more detailed issues.
Procedure
To install the plugin and backup agent, follow these steps:
- Access your server via SSH as the root user
- Run the following command to run the plugin installer. This will install the latest version of the plugin and register it for automatic updates:
sh <(curl -L https://download.acronis.com/ci/cpanel/stable/install_acronis_cpanel.sh ||
wget -O - https://download.acronis.com/ci/cpanel/stable/install_acronis_cpanel.sh)
The agent can be installed in different configurations. This article will proceed with Agent-based protection which will run on any physical or virtual server. If you require a different configuration, please consult Acronis' documentation directly for more options.
- Access WHM as root and navigate to "Plugins / Acronis Backup"
- If your server is a virtual machine, then in the Configuration mode screen, select "Install the protection agent on this server."
- Enter the credentials for your Acronis Cloud account
- Select the protection plan to use and "Continue."
- Enable the self-recovery options and then "Continue."
- Open the Configuration Summary page, and "Confirm" your selected options
- The plugin will install and register the protection agent, configuring it with your selected protection plan.
