Symptoms
The cPanel license is unable to be refreshed. License checks will timeout, or stall when manually attempted.
# /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
Updating cPanel license...
Cause
There was an issue with the cPanel Licensing servers that has now been resolved. This was preventing license updates from occurring on the server.
- 5:32PM CST - Mitigation has been completed. Servers should begin to renew licenses properly.
- 5:07PM CST - Begin mitigation roll out
- 4:56PM CST - Root cause found, begin plan for mitigation
- 4:16PM CST - Issue initial reported
Resolution
No further action should be required. cPanel will automatically continue to perform a license check, and thus will fetch a valid license now that the servers are available.
You can renew the license manually with the following:
# /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt
Note: Due to the license being temporarily locked during this issue, it is possible that login attempts to the server triggered cPHulk or other brute force protections. It is recommended to review any recent blocks in these security services if you continue to face login issues.
