Symptoms
When attempting to transfer an account using the "Transfer Tool" in WHM, you encounter an error similar to the following.
The “ServiceProxy” restore module failed because of an error: (XID 332dzh) The “set_service_proxy_backends” request to “203.0.113.2” as “root” failed because of an error: API failure: (XID 6gvvkg) “host.domain.tld” resolves to the local server. Provide a remote hostname or IP address instead. at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/RemoteAPI/WHM/Common.pm line 49. Cpanel::RemoteAPI::WHM::Common::create_api_error(__CPANEL_HIDDEN__,
Description
The error occurs because the source and destination servers have the same hostname or the source server's hostname resolves to the destination server. During a transfer, both the source and destination servers must have unique hostnames. The source server's hostname must also resolve to that server's IP address from the destination server.
Workaround
If the servers share a hostname, the hostname on whichever server to which the hostname doesn't resolve will have to be changed to one that resolves to that server.
If the source server's hostname resolves to the destination server, the A record for the hostname will have to be updated to point to an IP address on the source server.
If an incorrect entry for the destination hostname exists in the originating server's /etc/hosts file, removing the entry will allow the hostname to resolve to the proper IP address.
