Introduction
When using the Mailbox Conversion WHM feature or the script, if you choose "Keep old mailbox files", the folders in the old format will remain in the user's account, the user will be using twice as much disk space in the mail folder. You will see both "cur" and "mailboxes" folders within the account. After a successful conversion, the mail is copied to the other format, leaving both types of files in the account. Clearing the files from the unused format is a safe way to recover disk space.
Procedure
- Access the account's files as the root or cPanel user. You can use SSH, File Manager, or FTP depending on your requirements.
- If you switched to the mdbox format, your mail is stored in folders named "mailboxes." The following maildir directories are no longer required:
cur
.Drafts
.Junk
new
.Sent
tmp
.Trash - If you switched to the maildir format, your mail is separated into several directories and the following folder is no longer required:
mailboxes
Please Note: Users can customize their folder structure. If they are using maildir, additional directories may be present alongside the default directories.
