Symptoms
When sending a message from a cPanel email account, the following error is generated:
CONFIG_TEXT: This mail cannot be forwarded because it was detected as spam.
This occurs when there is not an email forward involved.
Description
When the "Do not forward mail to external recipients if it matches the Apache SpamAssassin™ internal spam_score" or "Do not forward mail to external recipients based on the defined Apache SpamAssassin™ score" options are enabled in the Exim Configuration Manager, a router is added to the Exim configuration. The router filters all outbound messages that are detected as spam with the failure message:
CONFIG_TEXT: data = :fail: This mail cannot be forwarded because it was detected as spam.
This can cause normal sent email to appear that it is being forwarded when it is not.
We've opened an internal case for our development team to investigate this further. For reference, the case number is CPANEL-56653. Follow this article to receive an email notification when a solution is published in the product.
Workaround
There is no workaround at this time. The failure message can be interpreted as the outbound email being detected as spam.
