Plus sign isn't parsed when adjusting openssl_options for Exim via whmapi1

Symptoms

The + sign in the following value is missing from the configuration:

whmapi1 set_tweaksetting module=Mail key=openssl_options value=+no_sslv2

Description

Using whmapi1 to modify the openssl_options for Exim via command-line doesn't include the expected + sign, resulting in an invalid custom configuration for Exim.

We've opened an internal case for our development team to investigate this further. For reference, the case number is CPANEL-46519. Follow this article to receive an email notification when a solution is published in the product. 

Workaround

Log in to WHM and use the "Exim Configuration Manager" to change the option as needed.
