Question
Why are some of my emails failing to complete? Why am I receiving bounceback messages that include this?
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
SMTP error from remote mail server after pipelined MAIL
552 5.3.4 Message size exceeds fixed limit
Answer
This error usually means that the message was rejected by the recipient server. It is my likely that the message itself, or an attachment in the message, was too large for the recipient's requirements.
The error 553 5.3.4 can result from any of the below reasons:
- 552 5.3.4 Message size exceeds fixed limit
- 552 5.3.4 Message size exceeds fixed maximum message size
- 552 5.3.4 message size limit exceeded at MAIL FROM
It is suggested to reduce your message size, or attachment size, and attempt your message again. Alternatively, you can work with your recipient to determine if they can increase their allowed incoming message size.
