Should I use Transfer Tool to transfer an account to my server?

Should I use "Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account" or "Transfer Tool" to transfer or migrate an account or multiple accounts?

Answer

We strongly recommend using the "Transfer Tool" interface in WHM as the first option in transferring one or more cPanel accounts.

Please note, this feature requires root access to the source (remote) server.

If you do not have root access to the remote server or are otherwise prohibited from using the "Transfer Tool" feature, the recommended method would be to download a backup of the account and then use the "Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account" interface to restore it.
