Question
How can I restore backups from a remote backup destination?
Answer
To use a remote FTP destination as a source, it must already exist in the Additional Destinations section of WHM’s Backup Configuration interface, "WHM Home / Backup / Backup Configuration".
If you use another method for your remote backups, you will need to manually copy the backup back to your server, then use the Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account interface.
In order for this feature to work, the backup or cpmove file must reside in one of the following directories:
CONFIG_TEXT: /home
/usr/home/web
/home2
/home3
/root/usr
Additionally, the files need to be named in one of the following patterns:
CONFIG_TEXT: cpmove-{USER}
cpmove-{USER}.tar
cpmove-{USER}.tar.gz{USER}.tar
{USER}.tar.gz
backup-{MM.DD.YYYY}{HH-MM-SS}{USER}.tar
backup-{MM.DD.YYYY}{HH-MM-SS}{USER}.tar.gz
backup-{MM.DD.YYYY}{HH-MM-SS}{USER}.tar
backup-{MM.DD.YYYY}{HH-MM-SS}{USER}.tar.gz
