root@hostname is undeliverable: root cannot accept local mail deliveries

Symptoms

You may see errors like the following.

root@hostname is undeliverable: root cannot accept local mail deliveries

Description 

This error occurs because the root user does not have a mailbox. Mail for root will need to be forwarded to a valid email address.

Workaround

Email for root@hostname can be forwarded to a working email address in WHM via the following menu:

"Home / Server Contacts / Edit System Mail Preferences"
