Email Accounts in cPanel shows wrong quota for the system email account

Symptoms

Accessing the Email Accounts tool in cPanel shows an incorrect disk usage value for the default email account.

Cause

This typically occurs as the dovecot-quota file hasn't been updated yet, and the account is configured to use the default "maildir" storage format.

Resolution

Note: The following does not apply if using the mdbox storage format for emails.

1. Move the dovecot-quota and maildirsize files out of the user's mail directory so that they are recreated.
2. Send an email to the account. Upon receiving the email, these files will be recreated and the quota information will be updated.
