Question
Why are there "internal dummy connection" entries in the Apache access log?
::1 - - [28/Mar/2022:02:11:45 +0800] "OPTIONS * HTTP/1.0" 200 - "-" "Apache/2.4.52 (cPanel) OpenSSL/1.1.1l mod_bwlimited/1.4 (internal dummy connection)"
Answer
The dummy connections result from the way Apache manages its child processes. To wake up a child process, Apache sends a signal to it. The process's response to the signal is recorded in the log.
