Question
What is status: NXDOMAIN when using the DIG command?
Answer
When using the DIG command, at times, you will find that you receive a DNS HEADER reply with the following:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NXDOMAIN, id: #####
The mentioned HEADER above is a DNS message received by a client/host that found that your request was made to resolve to a domain and could not be resolved to an IP Address.
AN NXDOMAIN error messages that the record could not be found or does not exist. You will want to ensure from your DNS Zone at your Registrar/Host/WHM that you have created them if necessary.
